Mary Ruth White “MeMe” Cashat, 93, of Beach City, Texas passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the San Jacinto Manor Nursing Home in Deer Park, Texas.

Mary was born June 19, 1924 in Marysville, Texas to Houston McKinley and Dolly Grace Winn White. She is preceded in death by her father Houston McKinley White; her mother Dolly Grace White; a brother Walter Maxwell White; a sister, Dora Alleen (Polly) Mangum and another sister, Vela Maxine Eastman.

Mary was a former resident of Pasadena, Texas and has resided in Beach City for the past 35 years. She was a graduate of the Marysville High School, attended Massey Business College, and was a retired Sanitarian from the City of Houston Health Department. Mary was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church; Ladies of St. John, and the Keenagers of St. John. She enjoyed participating in numerous church activities.

Mrs. Cashat is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edgar Cashat and their 2 daughters, Charlene Anderson and husband, Tommy Anderson of La Porte, Texas; Cathy Allen and husband Jerry Mac Allen of Marion, Louisiana; a brother Bob White and wife Mary Lea White of Goodrich, Texas; six grandchildren; Ginger Allen Coffey and husband Brian of Monroe, Louisiana; Thomas Anderson and wife Kathy of La Porte, Texas; David Paul Bishop of Crosby, Texas; Amanda Concord and husband Clint of Magnolia, Texas; Brandi York and husband Chris of Crosby, Texas; Nikki Hollywood and husband Mark of La Porte, Texas; 18 great- grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She loved traveling with her husband and friends, with their 5th wheel travel trailer, to visit with numerous friends and relatives.  She especially loved camping, going on casino trips, cooking family meals, preparing chocolate pie, butter rolls, and banana nut cake for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, making several sweaters and blankets for family and friends, soap operas and the Wheel of Fortune.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary services at 7:00 p.m., Monday December 18, 2017, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 800 Baker Road, Baytown, Texas, with interment following at Grandview Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas. A luncheon will follow the interment service, at the church.
