Jason Ray Wingate was born to Becky Lynn and Jesse Floyd Wingate on October 11, 1974 and his short life ended on February 22, 2017. Jason better known to family and friends as little Ray or Jay Ray was a family man. Jason was a loving son, husband, father, and brother. He loved his wife and children with all his heart. To him they were his world and I know that he was theirs as well. Little Ray for the last several years had resided in Highlands, Texas with his wife of 23 years April along with their three sons Justin, C.J. and Matthew.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather and step-grandmother Maurice and Marge Adams of La Porte Texas; grandparents, John and Thelma Wingate; mother-in-law, Cheryl Bond; Uncle JR Wingate; and brother-in-law Jim Bob Harlin, all of Trinity Texas.

Jason is survived by loving wife April Marie Knight, and sons Justin, C. J. and Matthew Wingate of Highlands, Texas; his loving mother, Rebecka Lynn Wingate of Highlands Texas; and father, Jesse Floyd Wingate and wife, Rebecca Jo Thomas of Trinity Texas; sister, Amanda Harlin; brothers, Devin and Brice Adams of Highlands Texas; a “brother” Ben Wingate and wife, Crystal, of  Friendswood, Texas; nephews, Ryan and Sean Harlin of Crosby, Texas, and Lance Wingate, of Friendswood, Texas; niece Hannah East of Onalaska Texas; and sister-in-law, Crystal Knight. Also, special friend of the family Cleveland Lanefield!

When someone is taken from us, as Jason was, in the prime of their life, it’s understandable that we are not as comfortable with words and phrases that point towards a celebration of their life. There is anger, deep hurt, inconsolable grief, rage and disbelief. These are just a few of the words and feelings that come to mind as we think of Jason being taken home too soon.  But hidden in all the pain and sorrow that we feel there is undeniably something to celebrate.  We can celebrate the fact that we had the chance to know and love Jason.
