Gordon R. Ashwood, 93, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 25, 2017.  He was born on January 16, 1924, in Goose Creek, Texas, to William Franklin Ashwood and Josephine Ashwood.  He passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, in a Colorado Springs rehabilitation facility.  Mr. Ashwood was a World War II veteran, a Navy Seabee who served alongside the 1st Marine Raider Battalion in the South Pacific.  In 1946, Mr. Ashwood began his career with Humble Oil, now ExxonMobil, and retired in 1985.  He was a long-time member of the Cedar Bayou Baptist Church in Baytown and in recent years, Crossroads Chapel in Colorado Springs.  

Mr. Ashwood is survived by his daughter, Barbara Pound and husband, Kent, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, William Ashwood and wife, Beverly, of The Colony, Texas; grandchildren, Gregory Pound, of Pensacola, Florida, Karen Pound, of Falls Church, Virginia, Laura Rupejko, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Neil Pound, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Jacob Ashwood, of Lewisville, Texas, and Zachary Ashwood, of The Colony, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews that were very close to him.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Ashwood.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at New Day Cottages for their kind and loving care of Mr. Ashwood.  

Visitation will be held on Saturday  from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Funeral services at 12 p.m. at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas, with Pastor Mark Broussard officiating.  Interment will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
