Audrey Christine Shuttleworth, 74, of Baytown, went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 26, 2017. She was born in Merced, California, on April 20, 1943, to Paul and Alline Whiteley Chaffin. Although known by most as Christine, many family members called her “Tina.” Christine moved to Baytown with her husband and children in 1967. For more than twenty years, she worked at the Harris County Tax Office.
Christine’s hobbies included reading, genealogy research and watching videos of her great granddaughters. A dedicated member of Wooster Baptist Church in Baytown, she also enjoyed going on trips with the group of seniors at her church and helping run the food pantry.
Christine is preceded in death by her father and mother, Paul and Alline Whiteley Chaffin; sister, Margaret Delorse Stopple; brother, Martin Edward Chaffin; granddaughter, Marissa Kay Manning; and husband, Ronald Terry Shuttleworth.
She is survived by her sisters, Velma Louise Contreras and Wanda Pauline Espinola; children, Jerry Leon Owens, Jr. and wife, Cynthia, Belinda Francine Manning and husband, Scott, and Michael Aaron Owens and wife, Connie.
Christine is also survived by five grandchildren, Rebekah Billings and husband, Michael, Deborah Edwin and husband, Nick, Josiah Owens, Austin Manning, and Mandy Manning; two great grandchildren, Audrey and Ava Billings; and many friends who will miss her.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Wooster Baptist Church, 7007 Bayway Drive, with Reverend Jason Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Marvin Smith, Michael Billings, Josiah Owens, Joshua Owens, Sherman Coker and Eddie Hicks. .
